Collective Conversations closed last Saturday, and was recieved well by those who visited Artstation. Comments included “Beautiful exhibition”, “I wanted to touch all the texture, but resited”, “Eye catching and beautiful”.

Our first exhibition for 2012 opened on 31st January, at Artstation.� The exhibition will run from 1 – 18 February:

Art with Attitude!

Spark Centre was delighted to be a part of the Attitude TV Awards on Thursday 1st December at Auckland’s new Viaduct Events Centre. Over 600 people attended the star-studded event which showcased the achievements of people living with a disability. A silent art auction featured works from a
collection of artists from Spark Centre. An impressive 20 works sold, with
pledges totalling almost $5,000. As well as raising the much-needed cash,
the auction helped raise the profile of the centre and the artists, some of
whom now have collectors eager to follow their work.

It’s time to ignite your spark

If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to print, paint or draw in a fully accessible, fun, diverse environment then it’s time for you to come along to Spark Centre!
We have provided quality arts learning and practice to the disabled community for many years and now welcome people of all abilities.
Our classes build wellbeing and promote self-development through the vehicle of creative expression.
Printmaking: Learn and practice different tech-niques and processes of observational drawing, printmaking, and screen printing, and create potentially saleable items such as handmade cards, mounted prints and silk screened cushion covers.
Professional Practice: For experienced artists to work towards a creative goal such as collating a body of work for solo or group exhibition, or create a small publication.
Figure drawing: Build your knowledgebase and technical skill in drawing and painting the human figure, and learn to incor-porate other aspects such as still life, objects and symbols or personal icons.
Open Studio: Work on your own art project with the support of tutors to suggest ideas and demon-strate techniques. A good opportunity to try out new and different ideas and mediums.
Classes run according to academic term dates and the two-hour sessions cost $210 for 10 weeks, two and a half hour classes cost $262.50 for 10 weeks.
We welcome people to ‘drop in’ and try our classes ($21 for two hours) but encourage par-ticipants to sign up for a term once they have cho-sen the programmes they wish to attend.
